Hankyeol Yoon won the third prize at the German Conducting Competition “Campus Dirigieren 2018/2019” for students of german universities of music.
The Campus Dirigieren was initiated by the consortium of conducting professors at German universities of music and each university was able to send two students majoring orchestral conducting.
The CAMPUS Dirigieren 2018/2019 was divided in two stages, Campus I and Campus II. Campus I, held in September 2018 in Dresden, was consist of diverse masterclasses. Out of 28 applicants 13 candidates were selected to participate in the final rounds, Campus II. Campus II, held from 21 to 26 January 2019, was consist of three final rounds of the competition. 13 candidates conducted Hochschulorchester Nürnberg on Monday, January 21. A maximum of 6 candidates were able to qualify for the second round on Tuesday, January 22 to conduct Nürnberger Symphoniker. For the best three candidates selected by the jurys, intensive rehearsal days and a final concert with the Staatsphilharmonie Nürnberg were offered. The winner’s concert was held in Operahouse/Staatstheater Nürnberg on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
